Blessings this Week: 05.27.2016

This week, it's really felt like summer, in more ways than one.

The weather is heating up, and so is my schedule-- I'm trying to squish more and more onto my plate, and that so often (at least for me) means that work takes up most of my life and my time with God slides over to the very rim.

Survival mode is an interesting place to be, especially when it seems like everyone else is on vacation.

Taking a moment to actually recognize the gifts of right now? It's important. Because it keeps me on track, it keeps me focused, and it keeps me connected with the Giver.

My small group finished up our study on Monday.

And celebrated with peanut butter cheesecake.

I mean, come on. So, so good.

The pasture just to the west of our house is busy with lots of cattle- the calves and mamas are out in the pasture now, with the rest of the herd. I walk Bear down past that pasture- most of the time, the cattle are too far out to really notice us.

But yesterday, they were right near the gravel road where we walk, and they were convinced that I had come to feed them.

The entire herd joined us in our walk, on the other side of the fence, mooing loudly.

Bear and I turned around and headed back home, and they followed us the other direction.

So, so popular.

And I wish I'd had my camera.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

We have a ton of stuff to do around our house.

The grass is growing, weed whipping needs to happen, we've got sheds to go through, the bathroom's not done, and we haven't even touched the second floor to remodel.

And my laundry was folded but not put away, and I had tons of dishes in the sink, starting to congeal.

But this week, on two evenings, we went fishing.

Trevor's brother came into town, with his boat and poles, and we went out on the lake.

The weather was beautiful, the sun was out, the lake was calm, and it was exactly what I needed.

THIS WEEK

Here on The Speckled Goat...

I've been noticing a disturbing lack of college students who can clean a toilet. And fewer and fewer people can fix a car, or balance a checkbook. Maybe it's because we've got it easier... or maybe it's because we're losing sight of who the workers really are

I'm wrapping up our series on understanding the Bible-- this week, we talked about the many promises in the Bible, and why you shouldn't always apply them to you. Because some of them aren't for you. Really.

Have a wonderful week-- and count those blessings!
