Blessings this Week: 02.26.2016 and 03.04.2016

Counting my blessings helps me to find the joy, claim the adventure, and remember the moments.

Here's what I've been counting the past two weeks:

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

It may seem like a laundry basket, but it's so much more than that.

I've spent the past three weeks complaining about the flimsy handles that had snapped off this basket, leaving sharp corners. And then, on laundry day, what did I find?

The laundry basket- reinforced with tough wooden handles, and sharp edges sanded down. So grateful for that man who loves me, even when I focus on the problems and not the solutions!

My husband got a Pizza Pizzazz for Christmas, and it's been getting plenty of use.

(We did not actually like the outcome on this experiment- the eggs came out kind of rubbery on top. Maybe if only the bottom heater was on... We much prefer waffle-iron omelets with our waffle maker when it comes to eggs.)

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

We took a trip to visit Trevor's brother in Colorado- and Bear got to ride in the back to his "babysitter's" house (thank you again for watching him!!)

He was a little crowded in the car. Loved every slobbery minute, though.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

These two little girls, and their very patient parents, who watched the dog while we were in Colorado. Oh, and they taught us how to play tea party!

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

We were so glad that we were able to visit dear friends along the way- and are so grateful for their hospitality, letting us use their cable, and feeding us 5 Guys Burgers!

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Mountains in the distance, and beautiful driving weather.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Funny bumper stickers

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

We got to ride in the trail groomer - so much fun!

The trail-groomer ride also featured some wildlife- big mountain lion tracks through the snow, and a coyote that followed us for  a while.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Going to the shooting range, and making some noise

I got to try it out, too. (Didn't hit a single target, but I maintain that I was aiming for the hill.)

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

After a great (too short) weekend, it was time to head home to the flat land-- saying goodbye to the mountains!

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Home sweet home- and a fresh coat of snow to cover up the mud

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Some of the little birds are back, and it's fun to hear them in the morning

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Lots of summer registrations coming in this week, and the fun of seeing so many who value the camp experience for their children and grandchildren

THIS WEEK

In case you missed it.

Once, he came by with a dead hog in the bucket of his skid loader.

"What happened to that pig?" I asked.

He looked at me with amusement before mumbling his reply...

"It quit breathin'."

What my employer was so eloquently saying, although in not so many words, was the fundamental truth that defines farming and agriculture.

We can only do what we can do- the rest is up to God.

Sigh. The best of intentions.

But instead of reading something new and exciting, how about reading stuff I wrote already about camp?!?!

Have a fantastic weekend- and don't forget to count your blessings!

  1. Coyotes can get overly friendly! When I was a kid in Connecticut we had to be called in off the playground at recess because a coyote came out of the edge of the woods!

    1. Crazy! This coyote was really interested in the lights on the trail groomer. He stuck around for quite a while!

  3. Your husband is a genius!! Not only did he find a solution I never would have thought of, he listened to you and solved the problem without being asked. I love hearing stories of spouses who do such nice things for each other.
How nice to live so close to such beautiful mountains.
Looks like a great, fun weekend.

    1. He certainly is great. =)

We actually aren't close at all to the mountains- it was about a 12 hour drive! Worth it, though!
