Blessings this Week: 01.08.2016 Edition

This week, I'm reminded of the big blessings and the quiet, small ones that are found in the most unexpected of places. Our God works in some mysterious ways- bringing His goodness to us when and where we least expect it.

"Cousins-" we spent the weekend at Trevor's folks', and Bear got to meet his "dog-cousin" Woody. It's so fun to have such a friendly dog in our lives. He gets along with everyone!

With changing temperatures came that winter fog, and with the fog came frosted trees and sparkling sheds

I have a confession to make... one of my guilty pleasures (well, not so guilty, but not bursting with intellectual integrity...) is reading those cheesy Christian romances.

(Never read one of those? Think Hallmark channel... but with more Bible verses.)

In my own defense, they're silly, nice, fluffy reading... great for a beach or right before bed when you don't really want to think about things deeply. I really like them for that.

Anyway, I settled down with one of those the other night, expecting a soft, cushy before bed read... and found myself drawn in to the story. I read the whole stinkin' book, and afterward, had a really good time of prayer and confession and regeneration.

Such a blessing. Never judge a book by it's cover, I suppose.

Another, early morning benefit of such a foggy week?

I was reminded again this week of what an awesome, funny, caring group of co-workers I have the privileged of working with.

THIS WEEK

Around the blog this week, just in case you missed it!

New Year's resolutions are great and all, but even though we've been made new in Christ, so many of us (like me!) still live with the binding of our old selves. A look at the story of Lazarus, and a challenge to find grace in progress.

"Seamless": A Study Review

My small group just finished up with the Bible study "Seamless" by Angie Smith. Check out my thoughts here

Have a wonderful weekend- and don't forget to count your blessings!

  5. Hello from ember grey. I want me some of that snow and ice! Living in the south, it is very few times we see it. Snow days are the most exciting thing around here in the winter.
