Blessings this Week: 02.03.2017

This week, I watched the series finale of the TV show "The Office."

Now, to be fair, I've seen the entire series about three times (thanks to Netflix and a habit of watching an episode or two before bed every night), but I've never seen the finale. Ever. Because I'm strange like that.

I finally got over my weirdness and actually watched it this week. I did cry. I realize I'm still a weirdo.

But one line that I thought was especially profound was when the character Andy said, "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you actually leave them."

How true.

And here I am, in the middle of all this busy and all the little tiny details of each day and I forget the big picture sometimes. I'm so focused in keeping my nose to the grindstone that I forget to look up and notice.

There have been some absolutely beautiful sunsets this past week

My dog with his straw bedding stuck to his slobbery lips, running out of his dog house to greet us after work

Pine wood smoke smell

One of my guides brought me trout this week-- he ice fishes on his days off-- complete with cooking instructions.

This little pooch in the neighborhood- he trots around very purposefully, making his daily rounds.

We had a staff party this week, and by "we," I mean, my dear friend Erin did all the work. Seriously, all of it. The guides had a very nice time, everyone loved the food (of course- because Erin made it!) and I think they felt very appreciated.

And also, ArcticCat koozies.

Trevor has a friend visiting this weekend (our first Colorado visitor!), and we're so glad he made the long trip to come see us. Good buddies are such gifts.

THIS WEEK

in internet-i-ness...

I talked about missing my guides and scattered flocks, and how our Good Shepherd will gather us all together. {Sheep without a Shepherd: Scattered Flocks}

And I also discussed my social media rules- especially when it comes to Facebook- and how I learned that I seriously need boundaries. {Social Media and Boundaries: My 3 Don'ts and 2 Do's of Facebook}

These are the good old days. Live them.

  1. When your children are at home, those truly are "the good old days"...and you are so right, we are so busy that we forget to enjoy them for what they are!! Now that my girls are scattered from Hawaii to the Middle East on deployment, I take the time to thumb through the memories in my mind of the times that we were together under one roof. I miss seeing my girls every day but I can still enjoy the beautiful memories that have been woven through the fabric of our lives.
