Blessings this Week: 06.17.2016 Edition

There's been a lot of talk this week of "it could have been worse."

This situation, this event, this problem-- this bad thing happened, but it could have been worse.

And in most of those conversations, yes. It could have been worse.

"It could have been worse" isn't really a blessing, though. I don't want to focus on the worst case scenario, or minimize the bad that actually happened just because it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I want to think instead about the good. About all the small bits of good that marked our days, instead of all the bad that didn't.  About the good that came from all the bad, despite the bad, redeeming the bad.

I'm surrounded by blessings, small gifts from God, every moment. I want to find those blessings.

A husband who stops the car, and then backs up, on the road so I can get the picture

A community together in the face of a storm

...   ...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Safe, comforted campers

...   ...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Incredible weather, and the sheer power of creation. Just imagine how powerful the Creator is!

(And far fewer trees that Trevor may have to take down within the next few years).

A visit from this sweet boy, his grandma and grandpa, and his baby brother-- and all the canoeing, paddle-boating, four-wheeling, and golf-cart-riding fun.

A sopping wet happy dog.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Getting to see extended family at a barbeque-- little girls with face paint and "hard bubbles," a very busy toddler, and aunts and uncles and cousins.

(As my five-and-a-half-year-old niece said, "All those people up there knew me when I was just a little baby!")

THIS WEEK

On the blog this week... I'm slacking and only wrote one post.

<Sigh>

But it's a good one, if I do say so, myself!

There are lots of excuses I make for not reading the Bible... but there's really one truthful reason that my Bible sits unopened...

On to the weekend!
Find those blessings!
