So, Wait, What Are You Doing to Your House? (A Farmhouse Update)

So, Wait, What Are You Doing to Your House? | A farmhouse remodel with before and after pictures

I realize that besides showing you the dog house, we haven't done any updates on our little home remodel recently.

Which, means, well.. I'm in the dog house. With my mom. Who wants to see all the updates, with none of the messy gravel roads that it takes to come visit.

Fair enough.

It does get me thinking, though- I kind of vaguely mentioned that we are doing a remodel in our sweet 1934 farmhouse... and then launched into the millions of posts about the hardwood floors... but I never told you about the plan. About all the dreams.

It's about time I get on that, huh?

Here are all the plans to date... and while there is more in store in the file labeled "Eventually," these are the ideas for the immediate future.

And by "immediate," I mean, "whenever we get a spare minute."

Kitchen

The Original:

The Plans:

Remove carpet (done!)
Remove the backsplash (done!)
- Refinish hardwood floors (done! and done! and done again!
- Paint the walls and trim (done!)
- Replace the backsplash
- Curtains! (done)
- Put up pictures and wall hangings/decorate

Currently:

The curtains are real 1950's seed and feed sacks that Trevor's mom found in her attic. So, so cool.

Someday, I'd like new cabinets and countertops... but that may mean moving the counters and cupboards to a different wall in the kitchen and opening up the doorway into the dining room... so we'll see.

- Re-carpet! (done!)
- New, wider baseboards (done!)
- Install new light fixtures with fans
- Do something with the color of the fireplace -- I don't super love the red brick. I'd like stone better.
- Curtains? Maybe?
- General decoration

(Ominous music...)

    1. Thanks!! I'll have to go up and visit Tif to see the new bathroom color- I kind of liked the purple!

If you could bring some warmer weather and about ninety million snowblowers, that'd be great. ;)

    2. We all liked the purple but now the accent color is PURPLE!!The new wall color looks great with the counter top. Too bad you don't live closer as our BIG snowblower has been really busy in the neighborhood.

    3. I bet it's been busy! Luckily, Trevor took a snowmobile home from work and was able to get back with the Bobcat... otherwise I would have been stuck for a while!

    1. We get such great light from the south! I love it! The wood floors were some work (that's an understatement...) but I think it was worth it!
