Blessings this Week: 01.01.2016 Edition

Ah! Can you believe the New Year is here? I certainly can't. (And I'll be writing and then crossing out "2015" well into February, if last year was any indication...)

With Christmas last week, I was too busy living my blessings to count them here on the blog- so I'm going to be playing catch up again a little today, if you don't mind!

What a way to start out the New Year- by counting all the ways that God has been good to me in the past few weeks!

Popcorn in church, and seeing our talented cousin's work on "the silver screen." We had a great time hanging out and visiting with our cousin and his super sweet girlfriend!

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

This man of mine, his heroics, and how much he loves our nieces and nephews. (Uncle Trevor to the rescue! The hair pretty is on it's way!)

We also got to see two of our little nieces in their Christmas program- so much fun. They did such a great job singing praises to God, and they always put a smile on our faces.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

That same weekend, we spent some time celebrating the birth of our big 1-year-old nephew (and of course, his sisters helped him open some presents)

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

We welcomed this guy to the farm- Bear joined us just before Christmas and so far is loving life as a farm dog. He's our big slobbery fella, and always wants to go for a ride. We're working on coming when called, but Bear is so well-behaved and friendly... and that makes up for a little "selective hearing."

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Bear is also much more observant than I am, and he's pointed out some of the wildlife around our acreage that I've been missing... including a little white mink, and this great horned owl

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

And then it was Christmas.

And oh, the food.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

We got to see our smiley little nephews

Bear got spoiled by his "grand-dog-parents" and had a nice snooze in the living room under the Christmas tree (what are grandparents for, anyway?)

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

Once again, I'm so blessed that my parents and Trevor's parents live so close together- it makes holidays so convenient and we get to share them with both sides. Such a blessing.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

And then it was home sweet home to finish out our break with some bathroom priming and hot chocolate.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

The stove (which required us to manually light it for the past month) started lighting like it's supposed to!

...   ...   ...   ...   ...

More snow. Tons more snow. And lots of bunny tracks.

This Week

I know the route very well, I trust my little car, and I knew I'd be home soon, but that didn't really help my white-knuckled anxiety. Living in fog is like that.

Not really knowing what I would encounter just a few yards in front of me was kind of nerve-wracking- especially with the hidden dangers of deer, tractors, and obstacles in the road that were all very real possibilities.

It can be kind of scary to be heading in a direction without being able to really see where we're going. Read the Post- click here!
